Sekaa Citta Karya is a non-profit organization based in Denpasar, Bali. Since 2016, the foundation has presented collaborative programs for a better development of arts & creative ecosystem in Bali. With three main vision; creative community, creative collaboration and creative education, we aspires to bridge the society with art and creativity through CushCush Gallery and LagiLagi.

CushCush Gallery is conceived as a platform for creative collaborations in contemporary design + art. It is an alternative gallery that embraces interactions and celebrates multi-disciplinary creativity through explorations of intersections of art, design, materiality, techniques and crafts. CushCush Gallery hosts local and international uprising and established artists and creatives to present quality, contemporary design + art programs, to enrich the Bali experience. Through its year-round program of curated exhibitions, residency and collaborations, CushCush Gallery facilitates exchanges between an international community of artists and creatives and Bali.

LagiLagi is an initiative born to respond and create awareness to our natural environment by combining creativity and fostering early creative education in a social environment. With fund-raising efforts from fun and meaningful ‘Make Your Own Charcoal’ and ‘Make Your Own Natural Ink’ workshops, as well as profits from sales of LagiLagi eco-conscious collections, LagiLagi organizes sharing sessions, free creative workshops for all children of Bali in collaboration with the community.

Celebrating Crafts

The six traditional crafts that we are investigating in the Colors Of Bali program are divided into two streams: one is the wayang stream, containing the crafts of Wayang Kulit, Topeng, and Kamasan painting, which all share the same narratives from ancient epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana. Colors are applied through painting and pigment in these crafts, and through our research we found that many of the pigments used in Wayang, Kamasan Painting and Topeng are very similar in terms of process and color scheme. On the other hand, the textile stream encompasses the crafts of Gringsing, Cepuk and Songket, which all have roots or have been influenced by the ancient Indian textile, the Patola. Historically, all three textiles also were woven with hand spun cotton yarn locally produced in Bali, using a cag-cag (backstrap loom). Although the colors and motifs of Gringsing, Cepuk, and Songket are not the same, it is interesting to see the connections and relationships between these three different textiles and their purpose within Balinese ritual context.
Evidence of usage of natural dyes and pigments has been traced back to 2500 BC in India 1, with records of the usage of Indigofera (Indigo) as a coloring substance. In China, there were records of Indigo being used in households all the way from 4000 BC 2. The roots of how these natural pigments and dyes developed within these ancient Balinese crafts are unknown, but perhaps the knowledge of the natural dyes and pigments came to Indonesia and to Bali through trade between these countries, or perhaps the people of Bali developed their own methods. However, we do know that Bali has a deep history of these crafts, with evidence of Wayang Kulit and Topeng written in scriptures dating back to the 9th Century 3. As synthetic dyes were only created in the late 19th Century 4, any preceding color in these traditional crafts had to be achieved through natural dyes and pigments. It is interesting to see the transition from natural to synthetic pigments and dyes in more recent times, and to investigate the potential reasons behind this change.

CHARCOAL FOR CHILDREN 2021: TELL ME TALES

CHARCOAL FOR CHILDREN (CFC), a community-based creative workshop for children presented by LagiLagi in collaboration with CushCush Gallery (CCG) is finally back after a one-year break. Due to Covid-19 pandemic which prevent us from gathering and socializing at CCG like we normally do, CFC 2021 is traveling to communities in various Balinese villages instead.

Presenting our 4th theme “Tell Me Tales”, CFC aims to discover and share local stories from the children of different villages. This year’s invited artists feature one collage visual artist, Irene Febry, and two multidisciplinary artists, Juli Sastrawan and ‘Jong’ Santiasa Putra to engage with children in creative workshop sessions that are based on story writing — from rolling an illustrated dice to inspire the children making their own short stories, drawing their own characters with LagiLagi DIY charcoal, to scavenging for materials in their surroundings to make art collages. 

Following health protocols, a series of 6 workshops is being held in the period of March – July 2021, in 6 villages.

CFC aims to strengthen the spirit of creativity and collaboration of local communities while still supporting art, design and issues on sustainability.

After completing all the workshops, CFC and the invited artists will take inspiration from the stories and collages created by the children to write an illustrated children’s story book, to be published next year (2022).

INVITED ARTISTS

IRENE FEBRY, a young emerging mixed media artist based in Bali. She is known for her exploration of colors and organic shapes in her collages. She creatively uses materials around her and recycles them to create abstract yet exquisite artworks. She is interested in giving a second life to objects and collaboration.

JULI SASTRAWAN, a talented writer and translator who is passionate about coffee, has just published his first novel ‘Kulit Kera Piduka’ in 2020. He won the second place of Festival Literasi Nasional (National Festival of Literacy) in 2016 held by Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa (Language Council) of Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture.

SANTIASA PUTRA a.k.a Jong is an active director, scriptwriter, researcher, actor and puppet player in Teater Kalangan and Kacak Kicak Puppet Theatre. His previous performance with Teater Kalangan was BE.KAS, which held at MEBRAYA performance art in November 2020. His last show with Kacak Kicak Puppet Theater was Pan Jempenit, a remake of myth script I Nengah Tinggen, at Plataran Canggu, December 2020. We can enjoy his writings — poetry, short story and essay in tatkala.co. He has launched an anthology book ‘Seandainya Kata-Kata Pecah di Keningmu’, published by Mahima Institute Indonesia. He also works passionately as a cook and event organizer at Warung Men Brayut.

CHARCOAL FOR CHILDREN 2021: TELL ME TALES WORKSHOP

Workshop 1 – MARGA OLE VILLAGE, TABANAN

The first workshop of the CFC2021 series was successfully held in Banjar Ole at Marga village, Tabanan. This small village set in vast and natural rice fields tells compelling impressions and stories. By inviting 18 children from Sanggar Burat Wangi (local cultural center), the workshop was carried out with great enthusiasm.

WORKSHOP 2 – BATUAN VILLAGE, GIANYAR
Sunday, 9 May 2021

The second workshop took place in Banjar Pekandelan at Batuan village, Gianyar which is famous for its arts and handicrafts. With 18 children from Sanggar Batur Ulangun (a local Batuan style painting community), Sunday was spent creatively. The participating children were very excited, especially during charcoal drawing and rubbing session creating compositions using texture and forms of locally found leaves, flowers and found objects, since art is something they are passionate about.

WORKSHOP 3 – PENGLIPURAN VILLAGE, BANGLI
Sunday, 30 May 2021

The third workshop continues in Penglipuran Village, Bangli, one of the best well-preserved traditional villages in Bali. Our loud and fun “creactivities” with the 15 children at Banjar Adat attracted tourists’ attention. Lastly, the best thing to do in Penglipuran village! We explored one of its iconic sites, the charming bamboo forest, while hunting for recyclable treasures to make art collages.

WORKSHOP 4 – SERANGAN VILLAGE, DENPASAR
Sunday, 22 January 2022

After being postponed due to COVID-19 regulations, the long-awaited fourth workshop session was finally held in the southern part of Bali. Twenty students from SDN 2 and SDN 3 Serangan gathered at Turtle Conservation and Education Centre on Serangan Village, Denpasar. Together with our invited artists Jong, Juli and Irene, the children spent the sunny morning creatively by playing games and writing their ideas into stories.  There were plenty of things to do at Serangan! After everyone finished writing and drawing, we all walked to the beach nearby to hunt for items found at the beach like seashells, corals, seaweeds and leaves to create collage arts together. What a fun-filled day we all had at Serangan that day!

WORKSHOP 5 – CANDIKUSUMA VILLAGE, JEMBRANA
Saturday, 9 April 2022

Our workshop continued to Candikusuma Village, Jembrana. In this fifth session, Students from 3 public elementary schools participated in various fun activities. The students each shared their short stories, and we got to learn about the village too. From coconut trees to marigold flower beds, Candikusuma represents the beauty of a Balinese village. A lot of taro plants also can be found in the village, and we used the leaves as a canvas to create water droplets collages.

WORKSHOP 6 – BAYUNG GEDE VILLAGE, KINTAMANI
Saturday, 22 April 2022

For our last stop, we visited Bayung Gede Village, Kintamani. We were welcomed by the stunning panoramic view of the plateau of Bali. With the cooler temperature, you can find many oranges trees growing well here. Despite the early morning mist, students from SD Negeri Bayung Gede were enthusiastic during this sixth workshop. The twenty young participants, along with the workshop facilitators and volunteers, found inspirations from things around them to create their stories. Later, all participants went on a hunt for broken ceramic pieces from construction site nearby, and using that everyone built collage art of a house together.

Our final workshop was made more memorable as we all enjoyed super delicious local cuisine Mujair Nyat Nyat! We all went back with happy smiles!

DenPasar2021 : Rising SEA

Dynamically structured with creative and innovative themes since 2017, DenPasar Art+Design (DPS) program presented by CushCush Gallery is advancing every year with its shift in direction since 2019,  putting emphasis on meaningful capacity building activities to respond to missing links in the local arts and creative ecosystem.

Reflecting on the success of DenPasar2020: ReGeneration in providing free mentorship to eight Bali based emerging writers to participate in workshops that focus upon writing and reviewing creative, artistic and cultural activities, as well as public webinars in arts management, this year DPS forges ahead with the same spirit of sharing and learning with the format of an intensive curator residency program to empower emerging young curators of Bali and Eastern Indonesia. The focus on Bali and Eastern Indonesia region is a deliberate effort to highlight the importance of unique and relevant perspectives deeply rooted in local wisdom and culture, moving away from the conventional formal curatorial education in art institutions mostly found in Java.

DPS 2021 is themed “Rising SEA” acknowledging Indonesia as a country made up of many islands connected by sea whose people are striving to rise, at the same time emphasizing rising sea levels and other shared environmental issues that need to be urgently recognised and resolved together by all of us as global citizens.  Following through with the theme of ‘Rising SEA’, DPS 2021 embraces Bali’s neighbouring islands to form connections with respective creative communities and invite active communities to nominate potential participants to be part of DenPasar2021: Rising SEA.

Responding to the ongoing pandemic situation, DPS 2021 is being held entirely online for a period of 3-months from 17th September to 17th December 2021 with weekly classes, workshops and mentorship by Indonesia’s leading multidisciplinary artists, curators, art practitioners, researchers, anthropologists and academics who are prominent in their areas of expertise, understanding the local context of Bali and Eastern Indonesia regions, while having global perspective.

In addition, this program will also be completed with virtual studio visits and community presentations of established artists and creative communities based in Bali and Eastern Indonesia who will be sharing their experiences in artistic practices and journeys on building community based organisations that are relevant to their respective places.

With a tailored curriculum curated based on DPS 2021 participants’ area of concerns within their local context, many of the online classes at DenPasar2021: Rising SEA will be open to the public for wider community participation, further highlighting the spirit of sharing and learning together in DenPasar Art+Design program.

DenPasar2021: Rising SEA aims to open new insights for prospective cultural arts practitioners in Bali and Eastern Indonesia, so that in the future they will become educational agents in their respective regions, by developing a curatorial understanding of arts with their unique perspectives and strong local contexts. With this in mind, DenPasar2021: Rising SEA is designed to foster an inclusive arts and creative ecosystem based on ‘Gotong Royong’ spirit that is uniquely Indonesia, thus creating local-based cultural resilience with a global perspective.

A series of online intensive classes, studios visits, and community presentations conducted across a period of 3-month will cover a wide area of topics from art curatorial definition and practices across Indonesia, Indonesia’s art history and context, fine arts and contemporary arts in Indonesia, performing arts review and critics, formal and informal art education, and many others.

DenPasar2021: Rising SEA was formally opened by Hilmar Farid, the Director General of Culture, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of Republic Indonesia.

Mentors and speakers consist of Indonesia’s leading artists, art practitioners, curators, academics, anthropologists and researchers, including FX Harsono (JOG/JKT), Asmudjo Jono Irianto (Bandung), Farah Wardani (JKT), Bianca Winataputri (Melbourne), Made Susanta (Bali), Galeri Nasional (JKT), Manshur Zikri (JOG), I Ngurah Suryawan (Bali), I Wayan Seriyoga Parta (Bali), Enrico Kondologit (Papua), and Wulan Dirgantoro (Melbourne).

Studio visits and community presentations by Made Bayak (Bali), Mangku Muriati (Bali), Forum Sudut Pandang (Palu), Komunitas Pasir Putih (Lombok), and Jatiwangi Art Factory (Jatiwangi).

Armin Septiexan (Kupang, NTT)

Having a strong interest in photography, in 2011 Armin decided to take a photography course at Sekolah Musa in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. In between his time as a media & communication staff at a local NGO, he continues to develop his photography skills by involving himself as a volunteer at Sekolah Musa. He is also one of the curators for Merekam Kota.

Awaluddin Ahmad (Gorontalo, Sulawesi)

Awaluddin Ahmad is an experienced artist who participated in many exhibitions since 2012 in Java (Jogjakarta, Batu), Bali (Ubud) and Sulawesi (Gorontalo). Besides being an artist, Awaluddin is an active member in Tupalo community, engaging with his local community through art.

Christyn Piorin Salima Wulogening (Larantuka, NTT)

The head of the media and publication division at the SimpoSio Institute community, Christyn is interested in arts and multimedia. Recently graduated from Bhayangkara  University of Surabaya in communication studies, Christyn is currently working on narrative videos of SimpaSio Institute community projects.

Eka Putra Nggalu (Maumere, NTT)

One of the initiators of the KAHE community in Maumere, Eka Putra Nggalu is actively conducting research, art creation, and the creation of artistic encounters in the form of art forums/platforms in several disciplines, especially theatre, literature and fine arts within his KAHE community.

Kadek Wiradinata (Bali)

Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha student majoring in Fine Arts Education. He is very interested in learning various things including writing and curating. Currently learning to write art reviews, Kadek also has experienced participating in many exhibition activities in Bali.

Ni Putu Sridiniari (Bali)

Currently based in Yogyakarta to continue her studies for master program in Cultural Studies at Sanata Dharma University, Putu Sridiniari is inspired by issues of women, the environment and interested in the studies of fluidity of identity and geopolitical aspects that shape the context of post-colonial society. She enjoys learning and growing through art and activism with friends in Futuwonder Collective.

Ni Wayan Penawati (Bali)

A painter and master degree student of ISI Denpasar majoring in Art Studies who had won various awards in painting, drawing, mural at the district and provincial levels, Wayan Penawati is interested in issues surrounding spatial and event making.

Ni Wayan Satiani Pradnya Paramita (Bali)

An alumnus of the Fine Arts Study Program ISI Denpasar (2015-2019) and is currently a master degree student of Fine Arts at the Universitas Negeri Malang and a teacher. She has a background in painting and has her concerns around the topic of art education in Indonesia.

Ramses Puhili (Papua)

An anthropologist who comes from a family of artists, Ramses is also an observer of Sentani culture who is often involved in research and cultural arts activities in Jayapura district. He is currently working at Museum Loka Budaya Universitas Cenderawasih.

Remzky F. Nikijuluw (Ambon, Maluku)

An artist and member of Paparisa Ambon Bergerak, Remzky is also an active member of Bengkel Sastra Maluku who is involved in theatre and poetry, amongst others. His concerns include the lack of literacy and racism commonly found in his community.

Theizard Saiya (Ambon, Maluku)

Currently working as a graphic recorder in collaboration with an environmental foundation that focuses on environmental issues in Maluku and Papua, Theizard is an artist who has worked in various art practices and a teacher of fine arts in the 3T area. Until now, he is actively involved in the creative youth community ‘Paparisa Ambon Bergerak’ and is currently building his own painting studio and art space.

Wicitra Pradnyaratih (Bali)

Graduated with a Bachelor of Digital Design from Swinburne University of Technology Melbourne, Australia, Wicitra Pradnyaratih also known as Acit has an interest in the practice of art and design. Currently, she works as a graphic designer and illustrator. She has created multimedia works at several art events in Bali. In 2020, Acit co-organized a creative event in Bali, with the aim of empowering women.

Zefriyandi Ali (Gorontalo)

Currently registered as a student of art education at the State University of Gorontalo. Active in the committee for exhibition events, one of which is the Arcademia Eduart Award 2020. He is also actively involved in art programs at the community, university and provincial levels. Experienced several times in participating in mural competitions and winning university level comic strip competitions and photography competitions in 2020.

Asro Suardi (Padang Panjang, Sumatera Barat)

Currently studying as a student at UPBJJ Padang Open University in sociology study program. Previously he had graduated from UPBJJ Padang Open University in Communication Science study program in 2018 and Indonesian Institute of Arts Padang Panjang in Pure Arts study program in 2011 – 2012. He has had numerous of experience organizing as members, production teams, moderators and artistic directors of exhibitions at various events, one of which is as artistic director of exhibitions in the projects “DUA-GUNUNG #1” and “DUA-GUNUNG #2” conducted by the RUANGWARGA community.

Haris Zulfikar (Brebes, Jawa Tengah)

Haris Zulfikar is a Karawang-born teacher and artist who is currently active as a lecturer at SMAN 1 Paguyangan and as chairman of Sanggar Suwung Foundation. Graduate of USTY’s fine arts and crafts program, Haris also had a variety of artistic experience. In 2020, he was a speaker of installation and exhibition art workshops with PSLN.

Kurniasih Zaitun (Padang Panjang, Sumatera Barat)

Kurniasih Zaitun is currently domiciled in the city of Padang Panjang, West Sumatra. Tintun, his nickname, is one of the theater arts workers in West Sumatra. Since 2004, he has been actively directing a number of theaters from his own work and other people’s scripts. In addition, Kurniasih Zaitun is also active as an actor and poetry reader from 1997 to the present. Experienced as a production leader/manager of theater, film, music and dance performance programs at home and abroad (Thailand, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines to France), he is also experienced being a speaker at a number of trainings and symposiums.

M Rizky Kadafi (Lampung, Sumatera Selatan)

M Rizky Kadafi studied Bachelor of Design at Telkom University and Master of Arts at The Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta and built the foundation of art and design knowledge in the Visual Communication Design Program of IIB Darmajaya. Focusing on the scientific field of Photography, Advertising, Stage Design, Rizky is active in several national art exhibitions as curators and art workers. Now establishing a collective art community that is Selasart.id as a movement to synergize and collaborate together to build an art and design ecosystem in Lampung Province.

  • DenPasar2020 : Regeneration

    Since its inception onto the Bali art landscape in 2016, CuchCush Gallery (CCG) has evolved into the preeminent art and creative hub within the city. Each year CCG conducts programs that involve the crossover between cultural and creative professions. The headlining annual event, DenPasar Art+Design program manifests into different formats, responding to the themes and circumstances of each year.

    DenPasar: In Transition 2019 shifted its concept from promoting Denpasar from an art and design perspective to focusing upon the development of the Bali arts and design infrastructure, marking the shift of objective for future DenPasar programs. Last year’s program invited four emerging Indonesian curators for a two-week residency accompanied by renowned Indonesian artist FX Harsono, their task was to observe and analyse the status quo of Balinese art infrastructure. Based on their findings certain critical points were considered essential to address in the future and became the fundamentals of DenPasar 2020: Regeneration.

    The points are:

      1. The need for more and broader Bali cultural and creative publications to raise awareness within Indonesia and internationally of the array of activities held across the island.
      2. The present lack of archiving practices and resources about the traditional and cultural arts of Bali.
      3. The importance of regenerating young writers to actively comment upon and provide critical reviews about the arts and cultural activities.
      4. The need for the regeneration of young professionals working in art management.

    “One of the key factors that inhibits the healthy progression of the Bali art infrastructure is the lack of young writers developing through the local education and university systems,” said CushCush Gallery co-founder Suriawati Qiu. “Writers are essential in the continuity and preservation of the Bali arts and creative infrastructure within the spheres of art management, promotions, critiquing and archiving.”

    “Bali’s global fame as a cultural destination today is attributed to earlier travellers turned long term local residents playing vital roles in promoting Bali through their writings, photography, publications and artworks, sharing Bali’s beautiful culture on the international scene. Learning from Bali’s past, we need to inspire our young generation who are passionate in writing about arts and culture to cultivate this passion from young, to encourage discussions and discourse, enriching the ever evolving culture, reflecting current relevant issues of our times, and sharing them with the bigger public not only in Bali and within Indonesia, but also across nations.”

    “During this critical era of Bali’s modernisation, there is the ongoing risk of losing the intellectual rights to certain aspects of the local culture. Losing important history, meaning and practical techniques within the unique traditional arts and crafts sphere is a tragedy. Some elements of this are still alive within the cultural memory of the senior citizens. Archiving becomes an essential aspect to the sustainability of the Balinese creative culture along with the development of a vibrant art, creative and cultural ecosystem, and its lasting legacy.”

    DenPasar 2020: Regeneration program will provide free mentorship to eight young people to participate in workshops that focus upon writing and reviewing creative, artistic and cultural activities. It’s our hope,” adds Suria, “that this can stimulate a new generation of writers to play a vital role within the Bali art infrastructure, to study and archive the burgeoning array of creative activities on the Bali art and creative landscape through their writing, photography and other forms of documentation.”

    BALI ART+DESIGN GUIDE 2020 (BADG)

    In 2017, CCG compiled its first printed art and design map and guide highlighting events and key infrastructure locations throughout the city.  More than 10,000 copies of the DenPasar Art+Design Map were distributed for free. Working with ART BALI in 2019 the map expanded to include different creative communities in Bali, and the schedule and descriptions of the activities happening during October to December 2019. The first edition of Bali Art+Design Guide was distributed to 79 different locations in Bali.

    The 2020 global pandemic has forced the cancellation of many of the art and creative activities on the island. As a positive response to this situation this year the Bali Art+Design Guide (BADG) will be published online as a website. This platform for the broad array of Bali art and creative venues and creative community news will feature written and photographic content by the participants of the DenPasar 2020: Regeneration writing workshops. The objective is that the BADG website can continue to grow to become an online-based culture and arts library and an essential aspect of the Bali art and creative infrastructure.

    ARTS REVIEW & CRITICS WRITING WORKSHOPS

    A series of five workshops conducted across a period of six weeks will cover a wide area of topics from art curatorial, citizen journalism, photography documentation and performing arts review and critics. The five invited mentors who are respected art and cultural professions from Bali and Indonesia are: Anton Muhajir, Anwar ‘Jimpe’ Rachman, Farah Wardani, Made Adnyana Ole, and Syafiudin Vifick.

    Eight Bali-based participants selected through Open Call were announced on 1st October 2020: Bram Adimas Wasito, I Wayan Dedek Surya Mahadipa, Namira Putri Imansa, Oktaria Asmarani, Si Luh Ayu Pawitri, Sidhi Vhisatya, Vincent Chandra, Wayan Agus Wiratama.

    Please find the profiles and the writings of selected open call participants below:

    Oktaria Asmarani graduated from faculty of philosophy, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. In line with her background, she has an interest in philosophy, as well as feminist studies, animal studies, environmental studies, journalism and photography.

    Her interest in journalism is expressed in several works published in several online media such as BaleBengong, Remotivi, BPPM Balairung and others. In addition, she is also active as an Environmental Educator at the R.O.L.E. Foundation.

    In her article, she explores environmental and gender imbalance issues through the journey of a young Balinese artist in Bali’s art ecosystem.

    I Wayan Dedek Surya Mahadipa is a student in the department of architecture at Warmadewa University. This 20-year-old man started playing theater since joining Unitas Theater at Warmadewa, then pursued it more when he joined Teater Kalangan. Dedek is learning not only about theatre but also in writing.

    Since June 2020, he has been actively writing reviews of Dini Ditu Kalangan program. Some of Dedek’s review posts can be accessed at tatkala.co and teaterkalangan.wordpress.com. A graduate student of SMA 1 Denpasar, Dedek also often appears in projects and staging, one of them being an actor in BE.KAS performance directed by Teater Kalangan in Bali Jani Arts Festival 2020.

    Dedek’s current interest in Architecture resulted in his investigation into the collaboration between dance and architecture through the accomplished dancer, Ninus.

    Si Luh Ayu Pawitri comes from Badung and is a recent graduate of Bachelor of Political Science, FISIP, Udayana University. In 2019, she briefly became the Education Program Staff at waste management division of EcoBali Recycling.

    Her interest for writing is expressed in several articles published in online media namely “The Platform” and Gambaran Struktur in geotimes.co.id and “Kamera Analog: antara Nostalgia and Euforia” in BaleBengong.

    Her article features her conversations with Nova, a collage artist and her introduction into the warm, inclusive community of collagists.

    Bram Adimas Wasito was born in Denpasar, June 14, 1993. He was selected and graduated from the Online Human Rights Course Batch I organized by the Indonesian College of Law (February-June 2020). In addition, he is studying for a bachelor degree in Law at the University of Surabaya.

    In 2019, he was a participant in the film critics workshop at Yogyakarta Documentary Film Festival held in cooperation with Cinema Poetica (1 – 7 December). He has also been an Editorial Intern at The Conversation Indonesia (Business & Economics division) from January-May 2020.

    ‘Comics have the power to simplify and visualize difficult concepts,’ said Umam Al Maududy, the subject of Bram’s article. His writings reveal the role and importance of art in the communication and dissemination of science and other educational information.

    Namira Putri Imansa was born in Denpasar, September 19, 2000. She is currently studying at the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta majoring in Arts Management.

    Previously she was the Author of the Virtual Exhibition “Stay at Home!” artist: Teguh Ritma Iman (2020). Her prowess in the art world was proven by winning 1st at PSR painting competition (2017).

    Growing up with accomplished artists in her family, Namirah’s article on the journey of Teguh Ritma Iman, her father, is filled with sensitive observations borne from many years at his side.

    Sidhi Vhisatya, graduated from communication studies at UAJY, Jogjakarta and has an interest in writing and art. He was once a producer for online classes and workshops at The Yoga Barn, Ubud.

    Some of Sidhi’s achievements in the world of art and writing include being a winner of Anxiety Poetry Slam, Unspoken Bali, 2018 and being a writer for Lukman Fauzy’s painting catalogue, issued by Nyaman Gallery, 2018.

    Sidhi’s article is a glimpse into an art form often repressed in Bali and Indonesia, following the history and journey of Meghan, a trans-woman working as a drag queen in Bali’s nightlife.

In 2019, Agus published his book a short story titled “Death Gift for Your Girlfriend”. Some of the writings are short stories and poems in Anthology Bersama.

Then in 2019, he qualified as one of 12 participants selected for the mural competition in Indonesia by Manik Bumi Foundation Bali.
