Ubud - dining table is inspired by the dulang of Bali, a bowl / plate like vessel raised up by a single leg, traditionally used as a ceremonial container used for offerings to the Gods. Every Balinese household owns multiple dulangs. Besides its ceremonial purpose, dulang is also used in the Balinese household as a small table for Lontar reading, as well as a centre piece to present fruits and snacks to guests. The life of a dulang revolves around the rich rituals of Balinese ceremonies and living.
Ubud dining table is designed by Designer Jindee Chua and crafted by CushCush. Jindee looks to the Balinese dulang as a celebration of Balinese culture and is moved by their graceful forms. Coming from an Asian background, in which eating together is an everyday family affair, the designer wishes to elevate the importance of the dining table, as an instrument in which families get together not only for meals, but also to be closer to each other and knits family's ties tighter together.
Simple, and full of grace, the Ubud dining table exudes an aura of quiet beauty. With an intricate Coconut shell inlay complete with an accent of Mother of Pearl for top, and a cast aluminium leg in a special finish, the Ubud dining table is a stunning crafted piece.
