Kawamura Koheysai x CushCush
A trio of animal shadow puppet artworks in hand chased textured brass with light and dark antique brass finish. CushCush conceptualised and crafted a series of guestroom artworks for the new upcoming Andaz Bali, in collaboration with interior designer Akari Ito of SPIN Design Studio, Japan.
With the animal artworks, we add a dash of wittiness by introducing some of Bali’s everyday animals: Bali frogs, cocks and monkeys in a playful manner. The animals are re-interpreted in a fun, contemporary visual, using techniques of shadow puppetry. Installed off the wall, the shadows of the animals add fun and interesting interplay, enriching your Bali experience. For this artwork, CushCush collaborates with Japanese contemporary puppet artist Kawamura Koheysai who creates the visual series of animals based on his memories of Bali.
